The team
was formed in 2000, as the Waverton Hand bell Ringers by the current music
director, Kate Sawallisch. The team played on an old set of Hand Bells
belonging to the local parish church and was later able to borrow a 2 octave
set from the
Handbell Ringers of Great Britain
- this is a national organisation representing
over 1200 teams. The group is also part of the North
West Region. In 2001 the team was lucky
to purchase it's own 2 octave set of
Malmark hand bells that they now use for all
performances. In 2004 after much fund raising the group managed to purchase
a third octave to supplement the set. WHBR are now enjoying a much wider
range of music to play and are rapidly expanding their repertoire.
Do you live in the
Waverton area and are interested in joining a hand bell group?
